Deacon John Brennan is the Director of the Office of Professional Responsibility. The Office of Professional Responsibility formalizes the process of investigating complaints of various kinds that have been filed against members of the clergy and other employees of the diocese. An important element of Deacon Brennan’s responsibilities includes protecting the rights of both the accuser and the accused throughout an investigation. Deacon Brennan is a 30-year veteran of law enforcement. For 26 years he served as a member of the Portland Police Department, the last 10 years of which were as the Deputy Chief of Police.
